HOW MOXIBUSTION CAN HELP YOU

Moxibustion is a technique in traditional Chinese medicine. The purpose of Moxibustion is to strengthen the blood and stimulate the energy flow (Qi), which runs in regular patterns through the body and over its surface to form a circuit. These treatments warm regions and meridian points where the treatments are applied, stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and Qi. It functions, therefore, to support general health.

How Does Moxibustion Work

There are two forms of Moxibustion: direct and indirect. Indirect Moxibustion is the most commonly used form. In this form, a mossy material called mugwort (moxa) is wrapped around the top of an acupuncture needle which has been inserted into an Acupuncture point. The moxa then is ignited, with the heat generated going into the Acupuncture needle and, thereby, into the upper layer of the skin. The skin area around the needle turns red, in doing so producing its effect, which is to promote a smoother flow of blood and Qi. This, in turn, enhances the body’s ability to respond successfully to pain, disease and other stresses.
